About Swan Learning Ministries
The first question most people ask when they hear the name, Swan Learning Ministries, is "why swan learning?" Christians believe the swan is a symbol of grace and purity.  When the swan glides upon the waters, they bear a message of love and relationships.  Swans pair for years, in fact, often male-female unions are sustained for a lifetime.  We are reminded not to forsake our first-love, and that is our love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  When our union is sustained for a lifetime with our Lord, the swan is a reminder of the blessings found in our relationship with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  The swan is generally thought to be a symbol of solitude, and only in solitude, will we have a relationship with God that we find in prayer and spending time with him.  And to have that relationship with God, we are commanded to walk in righteousness and purity, because it is there, that we hear his voice.

To continue the theme of swan, symbolically it represents transformation as in the children’s story of the Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Anderson.  Mislabeled from birth, the little duckling lives his life searching for his one true identity. Indeed, after growing strong under the nurturing of kind humans, the duckling is set free, and sees its image for the first time in a reflective pool of water to discover he had been "transformed" into a lovely swan.
Who doesn't love this fairy tale? It reminds us of our inherent glory, power, and beauty (as the duckling was always a graceful swan) when we walk in righteousness and purity with God, because truly only God can transform us from the ugly duckling that we were without Jesus into a beautiful swan when we receive Him as Lord and Savior; it is then that we carry the reflection of God who lives inside us. At the same time, the tale encourages one to have inner beauty, faith, and a persistent heart while pursuing the gifts that are our birthright from the one true God who loves us unconditionally.  In God’s eyes we are seen as beautiful and he never gives up on us for “We are Forever Growing!”  And like the reflection of the water to show the swan his inner beauty, the swan serves to remind us that we too can reflect the light of God in a darkened world, by letting His Son shine through us.

Finally, the swan is closely tied with symbolism of a water-based environment in which they live and nest near the water.  For us Christians, water symbolizes the Holy Spirit.  God specifically places the Holy Spirit in our hearts to teach us, guide us, and to shine through us so that others will be drawn to him and to know Jesus who lives in us.  It is the Holy Spirit that is forever “learning” us about our Lord Jesus Christ, hence, “Swan Learning Ministries.”
